Availability addresses the issue of how functionally accessible your systems are for the people who needs to use them.
Our view is that availability is not limited by the physical server but availability of every single step in the
complete user experience.
Your servers may be running perfectly but may not be available to your clients for a variety of reasons such as clogged network or misconfigured firewall. Your network might be good, your hardware great your application may seem up and running to most system admins but how responsive is it to your clients? Are clients all of a sudden spending three minutes to complete a transaction previously done in one?
